MCC Theater has announced the preliminary lineup of performers for the annual Miscast 2014 gala, which will feature one-night-only performances from stars of stage and screen including Zosia Mamet, Christian Borle, Anika Noni Rose, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Steven Pasquale, Jesse L. Martin, Sasha Allen, Keala Settle, and Nicole Parker. Phil Reno will serve as Musical Director. Additional performers will be announced at a later date. Miscast 2014 will be held Monday, March 31, 2014 at The Hammerstein Ballroom (311 West 34th Street). The evening will begin with a cocktail hour and gala dinner followed by the Miscast performances. Show-only tickets are now on sale at www.mcctheater.org.

He'll play Detective West, a surrogate father to Grant Gustin's Barry Allen in the Arrow spin-off pilot from Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and Geoff Johns.
Martin -- who played Det. Ed Green for nearly 200 episodes on the Dick Wolf procedural -- will portray Det. West, an honest, blue-collar cop who is a surrogate father to Barry. A soulful, funny and caring father to Iris -- Barry's potential love interest -- West came up through the foster care system and took Barry in after his mother's slaying and father's imprisonment. He believes in Barry and supports his efforts to prove his father's innocence. The Flash project, from Warner Bros. Television, started as a backdoor pilot, with the third episode slated to air in the back half of Arrow's second season. The CW now will film Flash as a standalone pilot in a bid to launch "with a bang like we launched Arrow," CW president Mark Pedowitz told reporters last week. New York’s television and theatrical celebrities will take their place behind the bar at the annual “Stockings with Care Celebrity Bartending Night” in New York City on Tuesday, November 19th at Hudson Station Bar and Grill (440 Ninth Avenue between 34th and 35th Streets) from 7 pm to 11 pm to raise money for the not-for-profit organization. Stockings with Care provides holiday gifts for children whose families live in homeless shelters or are in jeopardy of becoming homeless. There will also be a silent auction and raffle. All monies raised from this event will support Stockings with Care’s 2013 Holiday Drive. Jesse L. Martin will join a fantastic list of actors and directors in a historic event that will see the ten-play American Century Cycle by August Wilson, which captures 100 years of African American life decade by decade during the 20th century, recorded. They will be presented and recorded Aug. 26-Sept. 28 at The Greene Space in Manhattan.
Dramatic readings of each play will be presented in front of a live studio audience and recorded for the NYPR archives. The recording sessions will also be available as live video webcasts on NYPR websites, and the audio recordings will be preserved in NYPR’s archives for future research and educational purposes. Initially it was due to problems with getting certain filming locations which then led to schedule conflicts with actors' schedules. However, different sources are reporting that there have been financing issues and the future of the film is uncertain. Crew members have apparently not been paid in full as a result of a cash flow problem with an American investor, however, it has been suggested that this has been resolved. Filming of the upcoming Marvin Gaye has been stopped for two weeks. However, the suspension is not due to financial problems or anything else that will prevent the film from being made, but rather certain locations became unavailable, which led to certain cast members being unavailable and vice-versa.
